  • The end of communism had profound effects on not only the social, economic and political structures of the states involved but also on gender relations. The (re)building of the state, the transition to a market economy and the political transition to a democratic regime had different effects on men and women and created gender inequalities that continues to our day. This lesson will focus on the impact of the post-communist transition on gender relations in the region.
